The excitement is mounting as the Ramada Tamworth Jct11/M42 in Appleby Magna as it is set to host the first ‘Heart of England International Film Festival’ from 9thto 13th June 2008.
With over 200 films already submitted such as Wednesday by Rob Sorrenti Produced by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliott), Honey & Sting starring Antonio Fargas (Huggy Bear). Rubberheart starring Rebecca Hall (The Prestige, Camomile Lawn and Nixon /Frost).. Daughter of Sir Peter Hall and Shelly Long of 'Cheers' inTrust Me. This is only a taster of some of the fantastic entries already made and it is hoped to attract local film makers into submitting their work to the festival.
Robyn Bliley of Beverly Hills 90210 will be teaching Acting, Direction and Production at FREE courses during the festival at the RamadaTamworth on the Wednesday and Thursday of festival week June 11 and 12th.
The film screenings are FREE to attend and places are limited for the above workshop. Please email aa@amritsa.com to express your interest.
Screenings will run from 10am until 6pm every day. The majority will be shown at The Ramada Tamworth with some being screened at Sir John Moore Foundation in Appleby Magna and Snibston in Coalville. There will be a grand finale to the festival with an Awards Gala Ceremony hosted by Chris Hawkins and Clare Nazir from GMTV and Red TV on Sky Channel 186 will be broadcasting the event.
The festival already has the backing of Coors Brewery, Brake Brothers, Twycross Zoo, Snibston Discovery Park, Sir John Moore Foundation, North West Leicestershire Council, Lichfield Tourism, Superior Communications and many more.
Mark Gallagher, General Manager at the Ramada Tamworth said: ‘‘It is hoped the Film Festival will be the first of many and will help raise the profile of the Heart ofEngland. Our aim is to attract International visitors who will want to visit local attractions, historic sites and shops and therefore bring increased revenue to the local area.’’

Sponsored walk through Leicester starting at 10pm. There is a 6.5mile or 13mile route and all walkers are requested to wear their nightwear!!
